Life is like Baking. It is a Journey.

Another cake, another lesson. Making this cake was extremely enjoyable. I was really happy with how it turned out and could not wait to show it to all of you! After making this and looking back at my old cakes, I realised just how much time has passed and how much I have changed and grown over the past year.

Baking has taught me that everyone has their own story to tell. Everyone has their own journey to walk. Everyone has their own trials to overcome.

Baking is easy for some while challenging for others. Personally, baking is something that I enjoy because of the challenges as it helps me to continue to improve my skills and learn what I am capable of doing. Baking is a process that can take many years to master and become fully experienced in this area. It has been around 7 years since I started learning how to bake, 2 years doing it as a hobby and 7 months writing about it. Today, I can see how much I have grown over many years and how my style of baking has changed drastically. I have begun to explore many other types of desserts and baking techniques. I guess life is like that too! There is so much more that we have yet to learn in our lives. The experiences we go through help shape who we are.

Just like life, I have gone through many trials when it comes to baking. There have been multiple failures and times I just gave up. Every single time I fail, I would always think to myself, I just wasted a whole lot of time, money and energy... at that point, it felt as though those failures were the bigger problems in life.

Little did I know that these failures helped me become a stronger baker. I learnt how to overcome future failures as well as what I should do to prevent those mistakes from happening again.

This reminds me that just like baking, life does have trials and challenges ahead of us. How should we respond? You can either respond with hatred and complaints as to why your life is so hard. Another way is to accept these challenges and work towards overcoming them. As a Christian, I have been taught that God is there with you always, even during the storm. My favourite verse reminds me of this.

"Do not fear for I am with you. Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

This verse reminds me of how much God loves us that He is there with us all the time and will be there to help us overcome our fears. There have been times when people would ask me, "Why didn't God help me? Where was He when I needed Him most?"

All I can say is that God has always been there, ready to help you. As humans, we constantly push Him out of our lives whenever we feel that we don't need Him or find that our lives are perfect and we don't need some spiritual being to take charge.

It is only when we experience trials and tribulations and suddenly complain that God isn't there. This is the sad part. God has always been there. We are just focusing too much on me, myself and I and how God can make me better and help me. This isn't wrong. Yes, we can ask God for help. But isn't it strange that you would ask someone whom you have kicked out of your life entirely for help?

So yes, God is there. Just call and speak to Him and He will help. But remember, God wants us to be committed to Him. Don't sit on the fence. When we let Him in, do it fully and not for the moment. That is what matters most.

Life is like baking. It is a journey. God wants to be a part of that journey.
