It's time to UNBOX📦

Welcome to the final post of my first baking blog series, "Beyond the dessert". It has honestly been an amazing journey of baking, learning, reflecting and growing as a baker and a person. All glory be to God!

I don't know about you, but I find it really easy to box things up around us to our expectations or stereotypes that the world presents to us. In this weeks blog post I share my thoughts on what I have learnt from this whole series as well as my experience with boxing God up.

Ever since starting the series in March 2021 with "Learn to invest in rest", God opened a whole new door to Bake to Bless. It soon became a monthly reflection on life and the message God inspired me to share during that season. I have learnt how God shows himself in so many other ways- Ways I would not have thought of.

Not only has baking helped me enjoy the free time I put aside, but it has also been the platform for reflecting and understanding God's character as our father in heaven.

That brings me to today's blog post! "It's time to unbox" was inspired during a leadership camp run by my youth leaders. On the last day, God spoke to me during our quiet time where we were reflecting on Job 38:1-15 (NIV). Here is a summary of what I learnt that day.

The Lord Speaks

38 Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm. He said:

2 “Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge? 3 Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.

4 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. 5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? 6 On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone— 7 while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?

8 “Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb, 9 when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness, 10 when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place, 11 when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt’?

12 “Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place, 13 that it might take the earth by the edges and shake the wicked out of it? 14 The earth takes shape like clay under a seal; its features stand out like those of a garment. 15 The wicked are denied their light, and their upraised arm is broken.

I personally find it really easy to box who I think God is up. We might know that he is really amazing and is in control of what happens, but the question is, do we really UNDERSTAND and apply it in our lives?

One example is faith. As I mentioned in my previous Instagram post, sometimes I struggle with what it means to have faith. Saying and acknowledging it is one thing, but believing in it is another. It takes a lot to just go and let God take control of what we can't control.

Even as I end the first-ever baking blog series, I hope that the past 5 months has encouraged and reminded you that you are not alone in the journey and that there is a reason and purpose for everything that happens. May God bless you!

Ps. Pstt...This may be the end of this series, however, do keep a lookout 👀 for more special posts coming out for the rest of the year!!

❤❤❤

Cheers,

Eleanor
