Welcome everyone to a brand new baking blog series! This series is titled, Baking with God! I am super eggcited to share with you what's coming up😎
So what is this series all about? This series will focus directly on the concept of baking as a whole and how it relates back to God and His character.
Baking is something fun to do! (at least for me it is heheh)
It can be a hobby, a job, a way to pass time or just something to do for fun!
However, I believe that there is more to baking than we may realise! As a Christian, I know that God created the heavens and the earth and everything around us. From the microorganisms in the air to the DNA in every cell. God is in every aspect of it! So what does this have to do with baking?
Through this series, I hope to be able to share with you how God is in baking too! Perhaps there are things in life which we may not fully appreciate, enjoy or see God in. For the next few months, I will be bringing you through the journey of baking from scratch as well as share how God can be found in what we deem as the mundane.
For the very first post of this series, it is called, Baking back to basics. Yep! We are going to start from the very beginning, or as bakers like to say, starting from scratch. Everything homemade has to start somewhere!
If you didn't already know, there is a basic set of ingredients and tools one would need to use in order to be able to start baking! Tools are what brings the different ingredients and elements together. Each tool has a specific function that it is meant to be used for. The following isn't an exhaustive list, just a few of the basic things needed for baking.
Whisk
Spatula
Measuring spoons
Weighing scale
Bowls
Baking paper
Baking tray/ Cake tins
Oven
Just like life, we also have a set of tools given to us to help guide us through life and the decisions we make. As Christians, such tools include guidance from the Bible, God, our parents and those we respect.
Of course, you can't just bake using tools. That brings me to the ingredients. The base to every dessert is good quality and fresh ingredients! Without them, there is simply nothing to make the dessert out of. I consider the following the staple pantry, where most of the ingredients needed in every dessert can be found. Ingredients represent the structure and the flow of information that we receive every single day.
Flour
Sugar
Butter
Eggs
Milk
Vanilla
The question is, how do we bring the tools and ingredients of life together such that it complements one another and leads to a positive outcome, one that may not be what we desire, but rather, what God desires. In this case, life. I believe that everything comes hand in hand and is there for a purpose and reason. There may be times where we may not fully understand at that time. I guess that's why you can say that life is full of trial and error, taking risks, making mistakes and learning from those trials.
This does not mean we should expect life to be full of failure. There are moments in life where we celebrate success and life. We celebrate growth and the people who guide and encourage us along the way.
Go back to the basics. The foundation behind every life. What you put your trust in, where you get your information from, what you believe in, who you are all playing an important role in the life you are living. Additionally, the how. How do you wish to grow from different situations in life?
A simple lesson for all of us to learn. Yet something that is hard to remember and consistently apply in our lives. This reminds me that we are all a work in progress and have so much to learn from not only the people around us but God's creation.
Cheers,
Eleanor
