Chocolate crust, silky custard and some beautiful sweet delicious berries all together!
I haven't baked much this period and that's why this tart was something just so refreshing for a change. Since I started school, I haven't got much time to bake. However, a few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to bake to for aunts birthday this month! I was really excited and wanted to do something special for her. After much considerations, I finally decided to do a berry tart with a chocolate tart shell.
I spent one day making the tart dough and pastry cream so that I could leave it overnight to chill. While assembling, I was quite worried whether the tart shell would break as it was quite fragile. Thankfully, I managed to transfer it to the cake board without it breaking and started to assemble the tart.
First, a layer of chocolate on the base so that the tart shell would not be soggy.
Secondly, smothering the silky pastry cream all over the base of the tart and ensuring it was spread evenly.
Lastly, I added to sliced strawberries and some blueberries on to the top for decoration and garnish. (I actually created a 'berry template' on the cutting board and took a photo of it so I would know what to look out for - I was really pleased with how it turned out!!!)

Making this tart really got me to realise how brittle we as humans are. Just like this tart shell, it is actually really scary to think how your life can easily be taken away by a car accident or world crisis without warning. I guess this just helps me remember that life is precious and we should cherish every single day like it is our last day on earth. In everything you do, do it for the glory of GOD!!
Cheers, Bake To Bless
