Dealing with failure

Failure is so real... everyone goes through it. For us bakers, failure is literally a part of the baking journey. Every time we start exploring uncharted waters, the likelihood of us failing on the first try isn't uncommon. Failing is what helps us learn what doesn't and does work. It can take up lots of time and can be discouraging. However, if you think about it, if failure did not exist, neither would success...
Instead of always hearing from my baking perspective , I have invited a dear friend of mine to share her experience and thoughts on failure.
GUEST WRITER!!

Introducing Olivia! She is currently studying music and loves to eat cheese. Her favourite dessert will probably be the red velvet cupcake with a sweet, tangy, cream cheese frosting. Definitely a chef's kiss dessert.
In today's blog post, she shares her experience with failure and how she overcame them as well as giving her go-to steps on how to overcome failure.
Share a time when you experienced failure?
"It was when I experienced stage fright for the first time. It was my first performance in music school, and even though it was just a small one for 5 students and my teacher, I felt so much pressure to make a good impression. I was so nervous that when I sat down at the piano, my hands were trembling and I was out of control almost throughout the whole piece!"
How did you overcome that feeling of failure and push on?
"Worship definitely helped. After class, I hid in one of the practice rooms and while I was having a massive breakdown session, the song "New Wine" popped into my brain. So I sat at the piano and sobbed through the whole song.
It reminded me of why I chose to study music in the first place and allowed me to reflect on what God might have been teaching me through the experience.
Then, when I got home, I did some processing by journaling and talking to people. I also talked to my parents and friends from school who understood what I was going through. They gave practical advice and the much-needed encouragement."

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who feels as though they have failed themselves/others?
"Pray, and take time to process. Sometimes, I find that I move on too fast without praying and asking God what He might be saying to me through the experience.
The time you spend reflecting and praying might be more beneficial than stifling your emotions and pretending to move on. God can give you strength,
peace or maybe even a new perspective!"
What is your favourite quote/bible verse that encouraged you to overcome failure?
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing." -John 15:5
Failure is tough. No one should have to go through it alone. Remember that you are not alone! There are friends and family who are there to support you and go through those down times together with you. Most importantly, GOD is with you. He has always been there. As mentioned by Olivia, it is more important to reflect on what God might be telling you through that failure than to try and pretend to move on. Failure is there for a reason. A purpose. It may seem bad at the moment, however, remember that God has a plan for you and that includes going through the fire with you and out into something beautiful that he has planned.
I certainly hope this post has encouraged you in some way or another. Feel free to share this with someone who may be going through something tough and need this encouragement.
God bless you and have a great week ahead!
Cheers,
Eleanor
